Must-Try Pizza Offerings

I keep craving for pizzas with my favorite toppings. Among my super duper favorites are juicy shrimps & mushrooms, or fresh prawns with homemade tomato sauce. Add mouthwatering mozzarella cheese and other delightful toppings & I’m in heaven. What’s really great is that Singapore family restaurants can dish out the best recipes for a sublime pizza feast.

One of the satisfying pizza restaurants I’ve been to is Capri Trattoria & Pizzeria, which serves 7-inch or 12-inch oven-baked pizzas named after famous musicians, albums and songs. I’ve tried Goodfellas, which is a tasty concoction of delicious shrimps, sweet garlic butter and curry leaves sauce and mozzarella cheese spread, with a novel twist -- crispy egg and cereals on top of the pizza. Delizioso! It’s just amazing how new dining spots can whip up the best recipes to appeal to adventurous palates.

Also ingrained in my mind are best recipes for pizza by the Italian family dining restaurant Vivitalia at the Tampines Courts Megastore. The place entices young & old diners craving for their best recipes for pizzas. The must-try pizza flavors include Mango Chick, with chicken breast, onions, and fresh mango. I also couldn’t resist the Prawn Pizza flavor.

Elsewhere in Singapore, I also stumble into other pizzerias with classic thin crust pizza concoctions. Pizza franchise holders also continue to innovate and come up with best recipes & new offerings like vegetarian pizza (apart from meat & seafoods) along with fresh dough. The best for me, though, are the pizza restaurants that transport me to faraway places like Italy. A pizzeria offering a whiff of the ambience & flavors of Italia – that’s my kind of restaurant.

Pizzas & Chilli Crabs -- My Favorite Eats

During moments when things get draining or unnerving, or when I feel happy, or restlessly hungry, only one thing comes to mind – pizza. The great thing about Italian pizzerias in Singapore is that they offer other equally tantalizing entrees, like Italian chilli crab. This is no other than the Singapore chilli crab many locals and visitors of Singapore are familiar with, but with a twist. Lots of tomatoes (to form a thick gravy), a characteristic of many Italian dishes, are used. The result is a healthy and appetizing dish you’d want to keep having over and over again – apart from pizza, that is.

Anyway, I made my way to a family-operated trattoria serving pizzas, pastas, tomato bruschetta in Tanjoing Katong. Bruno’s Pizzeria & Grill has scintillating entrees, `specially the tomato based pizza I ordered. It got my palate tingling. The pizza’s dough is delicious by itself, and the tomato sauce base has the right balance of sweetness and saltiness. The handmade pizza had fresh tomato puree and the way the mozzarella and other cheese was used was simple yet elegant. Simple but full of flavor. That’s the phrase to describe Italian cuisine, which covers not just pizzas but delectable Italian chilli crab, too.

Not all Italian dining destinations offer good tasting Italian chilli crab, though. Good thing new eateries continue to sprout in Singapore, like a new one called PizItalia at East Coast Park. Bet it serves a mean Italian chilli crab. The though is whetting up my appetite for an Italian feast.

Satisfying a huge appetite for yummy pizzas

Singapore is a treasure trove for delightful eats. Among the foods that give me a certain kind of high are mouthwatering thin crust pizzas. Without much prodding, my friend agreed to join me for lunch today at one of the popular pizza restaurants in Singapore.

Being both unabashed lovers of good pizza, we headed towards Orchard Parade Hotel to a restaurant called Modesto’s. The pizza place specializes in Italian wood-fired pizzas. I’ve noted that there are several of such pizza restaurants in Singapore now that have sprouted. We had healthy fresh clams and broccoli in fresh tomato soup plus home-made pork sausages, before diving in for the pizza attack.

Our pizza cravings were satisfied with the Pizza Mascarpone E Porcini with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and sliced Porcini mushrooms. It’s also made of mascarpone cheese, triple-creme cheese, made from low-fat fresh cream. In effect, what we had was pizza with the milk of cows fed only with special grasses with fresh herbs and flowers. Hmmm… that’s good to know.

Overall, Modesto’s was one of the most conducive restaurants in Singapore for people hankering for thin and crispy pizzas, including the 20-inch option. The restaurant also offers Linguine Alla Modesto with olives, capers, fresh tomatoes and fresh seafood. It’s a great family dining restaurant that whisks customers away to a far-off land.

Among the other good pizza restaurants in Singapore that pleased us is Bruno’s Pizzeria & Grill. Like Modesto’s, the pizzeria carries authentic Italian pizza and pasta that can be enjoyed amidst a relaxing ambience. Among the tasty pizza options there are the Pizza with Salami and Fresh Chillies, and white pizzas.

Pizza night with my gal pals

Here I am, with my own brand of mess in my small rented room in Singapore. I’ve been working non-stop for months now. Need to chill out, so scheduled pizza night with the girls at work. Mmm… delicious pizza and desserts in one of the best Singapore restaurants. I can hardly wait! Steaming hot pizza and to-die-for desserts – here we come!

I’ve dined in one of the fuss-free pizzerias in Robertson Quay before. Yup, that’s where we’re headed, and the dishes were all made from the freshest ingredients sourced across the world. Only fresh dough for the thin crusted pizza, and the flavors, textures, and aromas will make you forget your name. I even had takeout.

We agreed to meet up in one of the much touted Singapore restaurants that offered a riverside view and specialized in authentic Italian pizzas – Bella Pizza. A pizza restaurant bearing Breaking Dawn’s lead star sounded, well, interesting. My friends made it early at the pizza & pasta place and were already excitedly checking out the menu when I arrived at the designated place.

When our pizza orders finally arrived – the Pizza Salmone and Pizza Boscaiola oozing with mozzarella, porcini mushrooms, Italian sausage and tomatoes, were yummy and filling. The thin crust pizzas were moist, and the bottom crust crispy dark brown, an indication of having just come out of a real Italian pizza oven. Bella Pizza had a laid back atmosphere and my friends and I were able to chat the night away as soft music played on.

Capping our delightful pizza dinner was ooey, gooey delicious tiramisu and warm chocolate lava cake. The chocolate lava cake was not as great as what I’ve tasted at Suntec City Mall, in one of the best Singapore restaurants with irresistibly delicious desserts, but it was good enough for us.

Dining in a trendy pizza place with a view

A cousin of mine was celebrating his birthday and asked me to join him and his family (with two kids in tow) at the Trapizza at Sentosa. It never occurred to me I’d be having pizza on the beach right rather than one of the traditional pizza restaurants in Singapore, but it sounded fun so off to Siloso Beach I went on the set date.

We are a family of pizza lovers. Any kind of pizza, whether it’s delivered at home, or ordered & savored in one of the fine dining restaurants in Singapore, will get gobbled up in minutes by us pizza monsters. We vary in our pizza preferences – most of us like the meaty flavor, another family member like vegetarian, while some of the kids like something spicy. At Trapizza, generous slices of pizza in assorted delicious looking flavors greeted us. We devoured the wood-fired thin crust sausage & pepperoni and seafood pizzas. Amazing how we still had room for dessert.

Trapizza had other items on the menu, like salads and pasta dishes, but our hearts were set on the pizza, so those are all we ordered right after my brother & his wife, along with my nephew and niece, went to see the theme park entertainment and soaked in the sights at Sentosa.

The casual Italian eatery satisfied our palates. We felt happy to spend quality time with each other, and we planned to meet again there. There are not too many restaurants in Singapore offering a great view (Trapizza had a beautiful location that overlooked the South China Sea – beat that!) with palate pleasing Italian eats offered at reasonable prices.

Chilling out with yummy pizzas

Craving Italian food like pizza and pasta skillfully prepared by master chefs in Singapore? Good pizza places to eat in Singapore can be just a stone’s throw from where you are. If you happen to be in the Tanjong Pagar area, that’s a good place to start if you want to chill out with friends and satisfy your Italian fix. There’s an Italian Bar and Restaurant there that has a quiet and romantic ambience, making it a suitable date place.

There are lots of other pizzerias offering not just thin crust pizzas but also pasta and meat dishes, among other exquisite tasting Italian food in Singapore. My friends and I did the food crawl one time when we had a strong pizza craving. At the Kensington Park Road in Serangoon Garden Estate, which is one of the best places to eat in Singapore, we found a gem of a restaurant that uses fresh ingredients to concoct divine tasting pizzas. The 12-inch salmon pizza we ordered had a thick base. It was a flavorful choice. The girls in our group opted for Bianca, which had the three cheese flavor and semi dried tomatoes as topping.

It was a satisfying meal we’d love to do all over again. I’ve noted how good pizzerias have sprouted all over Singapore. Over at the HarbourFront Walk in VivoCity, family dining establishments offering traditional wood-fired pizzas and pasta dishes lure diners who want a nice cozy ambience, good food and friendly service. I intend to visit one of the highly touted pizza places to eat in Singapore and enjoy authentic Italian pizza flavors to the max.

Enjoying pizza restaurants in Singapore

Good tasting pizzas blow my mind away. That was how it was the last time one of our bosses at work gave a birthday treat in one of the little known pizza restaurants in Singapore. It was somewhere in the Marina Bay Sands. Like most Italian pizza restaurants, we had to wait for about 45 minutes for our pizzas to be ready, so we chatted with each other first while savoring some delicious appetizers.

When our pizza orders finally arrived, and after sinking our teeth into the delicious-looking thin-crust delights with a crust that seemed to spill over, we could only exclaim “mama mia!” The pizza with lots of meat toppings – bacon, pepperoni, sausage, with tomatoes and lots of mozzarella cheese tasted great. The other pizza we ordered -- Funghi misti, fontina, taleggio and thyme also pleased our palates. The sauce was just right, and the spread evenly on the dough. It was a refreshing change from the take-out pizzas we usually had. Nothing beats authentic Italian pizzas with the right combination of toppings. I remember savoring such authentic pizzas in a tropical garden during a beach outing with visiting friends a few months back.

We were stuffed but we just couldn’t say no to the nicely presented, delicious looking desserts we saw on the trolley. Heavenly options included Italian pudding with rosemary biscotti and caramel copetta with gelato in coffee flavor sprinkled with salted peanuts.

In terms of pricing, be prepared to shell out a lot more than what you spend for typical pizza deliveries. Visiting good Italian restaurants in Singapore with fresh, quality pizza & pasta concoctions can be worth it. On top of good eats, these dining destinations usually offer warm and courteous service and the wonderful aroma and ambience all contribute to a one-of-a-ind dining experience. In my honest opinion, pizza restaurants in Singapore are not created equal, but you can make great discoveries when visiting retail complexes and other dining destinations with innovative menu offerings.
